(post Ph.D. degree) is an internationally renowned gynecologic surgeon and a laureate of numerous national and international awards for his contribution to the advancement of women’s health and for developing new cosmetic/reconstructive operations for female genitalia. Sharona Ross was born and raised in the State of Israel. After her two years of military service in the Israel Defense Forces, she moved to the U.S., where she graduated Phi Beta Kappa and Summa Cum Ladue from the American University in Washington, DC and later Alpha Omega Alpha from the George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences in Washington, DC. Dr. Ross completed her General Surgery residency at the University of South Florida College of Medicine, Department of General Surgery and was later awarded the prestigious HPB/Advanced Gastrointestinal Surgery and Minimally Invasive Surgery Fellowship at USF/Tampa General Hospital. Dr. Ross is currently the Director of Minimally Invasive Surgery, Director of Surgical Endoscopy, Founder & Director of the FHT Women in Surgery Initiative at Florida Hospital Tampa and the Program Director/Chair of the 2010, 2011, 2012 and the upcoming Annual International Women in Surgery Career Symposium. Dr. Ross was one of the first surgeons in the United States to undertake Laparo-Endoscopic Single Site (LESS) surgery, and continues to develop new techniques and instrumentation to improve its safety and application. Feng Tao’s research interests focus on the central mechanisms of analgesia and anesthesia. The goal of his work is to understand how the effects of analgesics and anesthetics on their neuronal targets are regulated. Specifically, he is interested in the regulation of central sensitization mediated by glutamate receptors and their interacting proteins. Dr. Tao recently has begun a collaboration with Dr. John McDonald’s laboratory in the International Center for Spinal Cord Injury at Kennedy Krieger Institute to address the problems of central chronic pain after spinal cord injury using a unique stem cell approach.

Petr Stadler graduated from the Charles University, Prague Medical School in Pilsen, Czech Republic in 1989. He performed his Internship and Residency in General and Vascular Surgery at the District Hospital in Jicin, Czech Republic. Alex Bekker is Professor and Chairman of Anesthesiology at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School. He obtained his Doctoral Degree in Engineering from the New Jersey Institute of Technology and received his Medical Degree from the Rutgers – New Jersey Medical School. He completed his anesthesia training at Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center in New York. Dr Bekker has joined the Department of Anesthesiology at the NYU Medical Center in1995 and was appointed a Vice-Chair for Research in 2005. Dr Bekker is internationally recognized expert in neuroanesthesia and is frequently invited to speak at Grand Rounds and Scientific Panels. Dr. Bekker has been active in research and for many years. He is an author of 65 peer reviewed publications, 6 US patents, 33 educational reviews and more than 100 abstracts. His work has focused on perioperative brain protection, neuroinflammation, postoperative pain control and clinical pharmacology. Dr Bekker was a PI of numerous clinical trials, including studies sponsored by the National Institute of Aging. He serves on the editorial board of the Journal of Neurosurgical Anesthesiology and is ad hoc reviewer for 15 peer-reviewed journals, including NEJM, Anesthesiology, Neurosurgery, PLoS One, and Anesthesia and Analgesia.

He is the Director of the Chicago Institute of Minimally Invasive Surgery; Director of the Laparoscopic and Bariatric Fellowship Program at St. Francis Hospital and visiting professor of surgery at University of Illinois in Chicago. He is recognized worldwide as an expert in the field of laparoscopic surgery and is a charter member of the United States Laparoscopic Founders Society. He was also named Americas Top Doctor by the acclaimed Castle Connolly Medical Guide for 5 consecutive years (2009-2014). He performed the fist in the world prospective randomized trial of laparoscopic mesh repair of large hiatal hernias (Archives of Surgery 2002) and he introduced “The Frantzides Technique” for the treatment of esophageal high grade dysplasia and Barrett’s esophagus (American Journal of Surgery 2010). He developed a new safer technique for the laparoscopic gastric bypass (Triple Stapling Technique Archives of Surgery, 2003).

Professor Ziad Al-Naieb has completed his MB.ChB at the age of 24 years from College of medicine at University of Baghdad and postdoctoral studies from Johannes Gutenberg, Mainz Germany MD at urology clinic and Poly-Clinic Mainz Germany and Finished his PhD at the university of Mainz Germany and then completed his Fellowship of the Royal college of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow, United Kingdom. He became full professor in urology in 1994. Currently He is the Vice Dean for clinical affairs and Chairman of Surgery at the Arabian Gulf University since 2008 director of Urology Clinics at King Abdulla medical Center and Consultant urologist at Royal Bahrain and Bahrain Specialist Hospital in the Kingdom of Bahrain. He has published more than 33 papers in reputed journals and serving as an editorial board in many national and international medical journals including our reputed journal. His main researches are directed to Stem cell therapy in urology, early detection of Bladder malignancies and photodynamic therapy of Bladder Cancers.

Michael W. Lew, M.D., a native of Southern California, attended Columbia University in New York prior to graduating magna cum laude from the University of Southern California in 1986. While at USC, he was elected to be a member of Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society. Dr. Lew continued his postgraduate training and received his medical degree from the University of Southern California, Keck School of Medicine in 1990. Dr. Lew completed a residency at the University of Southern California, Keck School of Medicine, Department of Anesthesiology of which during his last year he was a chief resident. In 1994, he joined the Department of Anesthesiology at City of Hope. In 1995, Dr. Lew became certified as a Diplomat of the American Board of Anesthesiology. Dr. Lew served as the acting chair for the Department of Anesthesiology in 2001 for one and a half years before being chosen to be the chair of the Department of Anesthesiology in 2002. Dr. Lew’s research interest focuses around the anesthetic implications of minimally invasive surgery, patient outcomes after surgery, and the use of noninvasive technology in the perioperative period. Dr. Lew is an active alumnus of the University of Southern California where he served on the Board of Governors for the Alumni Association and has a scholarship that bears his name.

Yaacov Gozal, M.D is an Associate Professor of Anesthesiology at the Hebrew University, Jerusalem. He is the Chair of the Department of Anesthesiology, Perioperative Medicine and Pain Treatment and director of the operating rooms at Shaare Zedek Medical Center, Jerusalem, Israel. He has published more than 100 peer reviewed papers and serves as an editorial board member of the Journal of Pharmacology and Toxicology.

Dr. Farnad Imani is an associate professor with eighteen years' experience in academic postgraduate teaching in anesthesiology and pain medicine. He is chairman of department of anesthesiology and pain medicine in Iran University of Medical Sciences (IUMS). He is founder of academic pain fellowship in Iran at 2006, and established the pain ward and interventional pain operation room in Rasoul Akram Medical Center at the first time in Iran. Dr. Imani has passed a course of interventional pain procedures in Texas Tech University, USA, in 2008, and is a Fellowship of the Interventional Pain Practice (FIPP) and secretory of World Institute of Pain (WIP), Iran section. Qiao Li is a member of the Tumor Immunology Program of the Comprehensive Cancer Center at the University of Michigan. His research to develop innovative cancer treatment approaches through adoptive immunotherapy is clinically relevant. A novel protocol based on Dr. Li's effort utilizing activated T cells is funded by NIH and is now being used in a clinical trial to treat renal cell cancers at the University of Michigan Medical Center.

Bonnie Molloy is a Quality/Risk Manager and a nurse anesthetist, working at both St. Vincent's and Bridgeport Hospitals. She earned her PhD from the University of Connecticut-Storrs. She presently is the Chief Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) in the Bridgeport Anesthesia Associates practice at Bridgeport Hospital as well as a clinical faculty member for the Fairfield University Doctor of Nursing Practice Program.
